Privacy and Support

Today in History is a reference app by Jorge Aguirre. It presents a Daily Edition for a selected day, related source context, saved edition history, optional notifications, and optional Twistory alternate-history features.

Data Sources

The app loads historical event data from Wikimedia on-this-day sources. These requests are used to fetch the public historical records shown in the app.

Information Stored on Device

The app stores settings on your device, including notification preferences, selected history interests, reading preferences, haptic preferences, saved events, saved Daily Edition snapshots, saved Twistory branches, and the local free-use count for Twistory.

AI Features

Factual follow-up questions use Apple's on-device Foundation Models when available. With your permission, Twistory sends event context, prompts, questions, and existing branch text through the app's server-side proxy to DeepSeek to generate alternate-history scenarios, stories, and follow-ups. The API key stays on the server. You can revoke permission in the app. Version 1.1.0 uses Apple Intelligence; version 1.1.1 restores DeepSeek generation.

DeepSeek processes submitted content under its Privacy Policy, which describes retention, use to improve its services, and storage in the People's Republic of China. The app does not include your Apple Account, a user account identifier, or a device identifier in these generation requests. Content you type may itself contain identifying information.

Do not enter private, sensitive, or confidential information into AI prompt fields.

Saved events, saved Daily Edition snapshots, interest preferences, notification preferences, and Twistory branches are stored for app functionality and are not used to track you across other apps or websites.

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchase restoration are handled by Apple's StoreKit and App Store systems. The app checks local StoreKit entitlement status to unlock subscription features.

Data Not Used for Tracking

Today in History does not sell personal information, use third-party advertising SDKs, or use data to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

Email jaguirre2192@gmail.com and include the app version, device model, iOS version, and a short description of the issue. Do not include passwords, payment details, or confidential information. If your question is about billing, subscriptions, cancellation, or refunds, manage those through your Apple Account or Apple Support.
